This may be happening according to an article on CNET: Has the notebook-to-handheld conversion begun?. It states that handhelds have become sophisticated enough to replace notebooks, and some companies are actually starting to do this.
For developers this means that we will need to develop applications which can run in regular desktop browsers but also on handhelds. We’ll have to test on small screens again, very small screens. Hopefully this will become easier once JSF implementations will render for handhelds automatically. Oracle’s ADF Faces will have PDA support. I wonder how well this will work across all the different Handhelds. Oh, and don’t use tables for layout, but rely on xhtml and css for layout.
